Launched in the winter of 2003 outc.org was originally created to help members of the Otago University Tramping Club create an online community and have the ability to easily post and access information about hiking trips and other important resources.
Since then I have moved on (South Korea at presemt), and have decided to leave this site up for anyone who wishes to view photos or read a couple of articles of my experiences with the club.
What is Tramping?
Hiking in New Zealand is traditionally known as TRAMPING, hence "The Otago University Tramping Club". For the benefit of international viewers our website has stated the act "To go on an extended walk for pleasure or exercise" as HIKING to avoid any confusion. While this may offend some Kiwi trampers I assure you that this is in no way intended to take away our cultural right to call it tramping.
I still hike (thanks to the OUTC) and am currently doing it in South Korea.
